Evaluating Juvenile Crime

Crimes are committed in just about every town and city in the United States, mostly by men and an increasing number of women too. But when criminal behavior is committed by individuals under the age of 18, it is even more devastating to our communities and for the perpetrators as well. You might ask what types of crimes would children choose to be involved in. Well, let’s find out what’s been happening in Frisco, Texas.

Underage Drinking / DWI / DUI

Teenagers everywhere, including Frisco, love to act as though they are mature and know what’s best for their life. That way of thinking can lead to underage drinking of alcoholic beverages and driving a vehicle while intoxicated. For many juveniles, underage drinking will lead to getting arrested for public intoxication, driving while intoxicated, or other crimes stemming from drinking alcohol.

Drug Crimes

Taking drugs almost seems as a rite-of-passage for teenagers and sometimes younger children. These minors easily forget that possessing illegal drugs and certain prescription drugs is illegal, not only for underage children, but also for adults. But worst of all, the selling of illegal drugs amongst Frisco youth is quite common. Once caught and arrested, these youth are subject to a lifetime of burdensome consequences including jail time, heavy fines, and being shunned by family and friends.

Theft Crimes

There are many case files in the Frisco, Texas justice system of juveniles being convicted for crimes of theft, including shoplifting, burglary, and car theft. Sometimes drug use is what incites these crimes of theft, but in other cases gang affiliation or desperation may be the cause. In either case, theft crimes by minors is not a good way to start out in life. The court system may grant leniency to a minor who shows regret for their crime in order to give him or her a second chance.

Violent Crimes

Violent crimes perpetrated by minors is a very rare occurrence, but when they do happen they include assault, rape, armed robbery, and even murder or attempted murder. These types of crimes by minors are not taken lightly and will most likely include jail or prison time, supervised probation, and registering as a sex offender.

Finding Solutions

Frisco, Texas is a very nice place to live but it certainly isn’t perfect, especially when juvenile crimes are taking place. Perhaps more emphasis should be given to programs that can help prevent minors from going the way of criminal behavior. When the entire community gets involved in finding solutions the better the whole community will be in the long run.
